Retired UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal recently claimed that he’s out of retirement. Now, his former rival Ben Askren, who got knocked out in five seconds in their fight back in 2019, wants a rematch.

“Listen, if Dana called me and said, ‘Ben, Jorge Masvidal, UFC 300, International Fight Week,’ I don’t give a damn, I’m out of retirement,” Askren said. “I’ll fight him. I don’t care.

The wrestling based fighter is only interested in a rematch in MMA however.

“I suck at boxing. You guys all saw that. I’m not going to fight him in boxing. Are you dumb? I’m not good at boxing.”

Askren vs Masivdal 2 could happen due to lack of money

The American former ONE Championship title holder claimed he will never beg for the rematch against Masvidal, but if the fight is offered to him, he’ll be there.

“I mean, probably because he ain’t got no more money,” Askren said on Cormier’s YouTube channel. “That’s my best guess. People spend it. Mike Tyson spent $400,000,000,” Askren said.

“I want to fight this guy, but he’ll never say yes to that unless maybe he loses some more money or something. It would be great. I would love to.”

In November 2019, Askren announced his official retirement from MMA competition after back-to-back losses in the UFC. Since then he clashed with Jake Paul in a boxing bout. Askren lost via TKO in round one.
