Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has let it be known that he intends to do some boxing before signing with a major MMA organization.
But it looks like it won’t be a boxing fight without gloves.
At a recent press conference, BKFC President David Feldman says he’s been in talks with former champion, and it looks like the two sides can’t agree on the size of the paycheck.
“Francis Ngannou, he’s somebody we’ve certainly reached out to,” Feldman said. “We’ve reached out to him, we’ve reached out to his team, and we just feel like he’s asking for unrealistic money, and we’re not willing to pay that kind of money for him.”
The BKFC boss claimed that Ngannou could lose out of some sweet deals if he’s not keeping himself relevant.
“I do think he needs to make his mind up pretty soon. As the days go on, his value is starting to drop a little bit,” Feldman said.
There has been no shortage of offers for the former UFC heavyweight champion.
PFL’s head of European fighter relations Dan Hardy recently predicted that he will come over to the Professional Fighters League.
“We’ll have Francis Ngannou in no time, coming over and fighting for it. I just feel it in my bones. I just know he’s coming,” Hardy said. “It makes sense.”
Francis Ngannou has also said that he is interested to fight in One Championship.
