Brandon Moreno is the new UFC interim flyweight champion after defeating Kai Kara-France in the co-main event of UFC 277.
The first two rounds were very even with good striking from both fighters. In the third round, Kara-France stepped up and landed heavy ground and pound that cut Moreno. However, the former champion bounced back and landed a perfect left kick to the liver that sent Kara-France to the canvas. Moreno followed up with ground and pound until the referee stopped the fight.

Brandon Moreno wants Deiveson Figueiredo in December
After the fight, Brandon Moreno opened up on his feelings towards rival Deiveson Figueiredo.
“Coming here to this fight in fight week, I had a lot of feelings. I wanted to go against Deiveson Figueiredo and throw all my hate and all my fury,” Moreno said. “I then remembered, my daughter is watching me at home in Vegas. I don’t want to be the guy who is throwing shit to a guy in front of his daughter. I have a chance to be an example to my daughter.”
Flyweight champion Figueiredo then entered the octagon and raised the “Assassin Baby’s” hand.
“I want to fight with you in December,” Moreno said to his long-time rival, who seemed up for the task.
“Tonight is his night, he is the champion,” Figueiredo said. “I want to take this fight to Brazil.”
