Brazilian lightweight Renato Moicano is trying to entice unranked fan favorite Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett into a fight at UFC 286.
Currently ranked No. 13 on the UFC official rankings, Moicano offers to be Pimblett’s first ranked opponent in a social media campaign.
However, it’s doubtful that Pimblett, or the UFC, are interested in such a high-level opponent instead of building up the Liverpudlian’s career slowly.
Since his lightweight debut in March 2020, the former featherweight Renato Moicano fought some of the division toughest opponents in Rafael Fiziev, Rafael dos Anjos and Brad Ridell.
The 33-year-old Brazilian made his UFC debut back in December 2014, and so far fought 14 fights in the promotion. His biggest wins include Cub Swanson, Calvin Kattar and Jeremy Stephens.
The recent first-round submission win over Riddell at UFC 281, and the fired up post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, gave him momentum that he intends to use.
“I was ranked no. 5 at featherweight, I was the best featherweight on the planet,” Moicano said at UFC 281. “I lost to my idol Jose Aldo, it was bad for my career, I learned from my mistakes, and now I’m here to fucking take over.”
“I took a five-round fight on four days’ notice. I was fucking drinking beer and eating steaks in Brazil. And they called me, and I came here. I travelled 24 hours. Motherfuckers respect me. I want the fucking bonus. Maicano wants money!”
