Israel Adesanya’s coach Mike Angove of City Kickboxing, recently gave an interesting update regarding the former two-time champion’s possible return to the octagon.
“Izzy is back in the gym. The rest isn’t really in our hands, it’s really about the options that the UFC are putting together and they are about putting together a great show that’s a great draw that gets bums on seats and eyes on screen,” Angove told Sky Sports New Zealand.
Even though UFC calls the shots, the City Kickboxing coach named three opponents as the most likely for the comeback. Take a look below!

Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus du Plessis
Newly crowned middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis from South Africa and Israel Adesanya are not known to be the sweetest of friends.
In fact, the UFC could sell this bout as one of the biggest hate fights in a long time.
“Israel is one of their biggest stars, Dricus is a new up and comer so that certainly has some appeal but whether it’s then or that opportunity is still there later, really that’s not in our court,” Angove said.

Sean Strickland or Khamzat Chimaev
Former middleweight champion Sean Strickland, who defeated Adesanya in September 2023, or undefeated UFC star Khamzat Chimaev are also two opponents that the coach have in mind.
“What we know is we have to prepare for that potential fight, we have to prepare for a potential fight with Strickland, we have to prepare for a potential fight with Khamzat because those are the most obvious options on the table and the timing, it’s not up to us,” Angove said.
