Top ranked UFC welterweight Colby Covington has been out of action since he defeated his long-time rival Jorge Masvidal, in March 2022.
However, in a new interview with The Schmo, Belal Muhammad’s manager Ali Abdelaziz revealed that the UFC are working to book a huge welterweight fight between No. 2 ranked Covington and No. 4 ranked Muhammad.
“The UFC are very much saying that they’re working on the Colby Covington fight, this is the right fight,” Abdelaziz claimed. “And it’s no doubt in my mind Belal beats him, and he will beat him, and he will fight Kamaru (Usman) – the winner of Kamaru and Leon (Edwards).”
According to Ali Abdelaziz, the promotion offered Colby Covington and Belal Muhammad to coach the TV show The Ultimate Fighter.
“The UFC reached out to me and said, ‘Belal versus Colby, coaching The Ultimate Fighter.’ We said yes. Nobody can find Colby, nobody knows where he’s at. Last time I heard, he was at the UFC PI with security,” Abdelaziz said. “I don’t know if he’s trying to sue Masvidal, trying to cash in, or trying to do whatever.”
The high profile manager then delivered a strong message to Covington.
“Fight or just leave the sport or get out of the rankings. Belal should be fighting for the title, to be honest with you, I don’t care what anybody says.”
