UFC star Conor McGregor recently announced that he’s featured in a new 4-part documentary on Netflix which premieres on May 17.
The series will be documenting the recovery from the leg injury he suffer at UFC 264 in July 2021. In the first round of his trilogy bout with rival Dustin Poireir, the Irishman broke his left lower tibia and fibula and lost the fight via TKO.
“I thought it was over as well,” McGregor said in the Netflix trailer.
“I thought it was over as well, that’s why I flipped into a different mode. It was the adrenaline as well and I know I would have came down but part of me was thinking, Jesus, imagine it was taken from me like that, I would be a different person and it was a bit scary, to be honest with you.”
“But it’s McGregor forever. That’s it. It’s done. It’s McGregor forever and don’t you forget it.”
Conor McGregor is planning to make his UFC return after more than a two year lay-off against top ranked lightweight contender Michael Chandler. The fight is rumoured to take place in 2023, but so far no date or weight class has been confirmed yet.
According to reports, McGregor is still not available for USADA testing, which puts a major question mark on when, and if, the anticipated return will happen.
