UFC superstar Conor McGregor is hoping he can return to UFC action in just a few months. The Irishman pulled out of UFC 303 due to a broken toe. The injury happened three weeks ago in training.

“August-September,” McGregor told Severe MMA about returning to action. ”August-September, I’d love. You know the way it is. I’m in recovery mode.”

Dana White, however, is not so sure about McGregor’s return.

“Our schedule is laid out. We’ll see. I’m not doing anything until I know that Conor is healthy. It’s not even worth talking about,” White said at the UFC Saudi Arabia post-fight press conference.

Conor McGregor: ”It’s very painful”

Two years ago, McGregor broke his leg during a fight against Dustin Poirier. The broken toe, however, is even more painful according to the superstar.

“We just adjust,” McGregor said. “Everything is moving. Everything is moving parts, so I’m good. The injury is a nuisance. It’s painful. I’m not going to lie. It’s very, very painful – probably even more than the leg, and that’s the truth. I’ll tell you why: The leg was at least wrapped up. I couldn’t access it. The foot is just there still. It’s like it’s exposed or something. It’s a bit painful, but it comes with the territory. I need to just dial it in, get my training camps correct.”

Instead of Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, the MMA fans will see a rematch between reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and former champ Jiri Prochazka.
