The biggest star in MMA history, Conor McGregor, will fight against Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303.
The promotion announced the matchup during the UFC 300 post-fight press conference on Saturday night.
The highly anticipatesd fight will take place at welterweight – not middleweight as McGregor claimed a while back – on June 29 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Even though the Irish UFC star has just won one UFC fight in the past eight years, he is still by far the promotion’s biggest star. McGregor has been sidelined since July 2021 when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier.
The fight against Chandler has been rumoured since the pair coached The Ultimate Fighter 31.
After a bunch of real bangers, against the likes of Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier, Chandler chose to not compete during 2023, placing himself on the sidelines as this fight’s negotiations worked themselves out. The American former Bellator champion has fought five times in the UFC, winning two and losing three.
