Conor McGregor is getting closer to his UFC return that is expected to be later this year or early 2023. According to his coach, John Kavanagh, the Irish fighter had a good rehabilitation and is healthy, happy and as strong as ever.
“Trust me, I got to have a bit of a wrestle with him last night and I felt it,” Kavanagh recently said to BBC Sport. “When that silverback arm goes around your neck there’s a bit of an extra squeeze there, so, he’s very, very strong at the moment.”
“He did a great session last night, we got some great rounds in. He hasn’t lost a beat and was looking great.”
Conor McGregor could be fighting in welterweight next
Top ranked lightweights Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira and Michael Chandler have recently expressed a will to take on Conor McGregor next. However, on Saturday UFC announced that Oliveira will fight Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title on October 22.
On the other hand, McGregor has showed intrest in moving up to welterweight to challenge dominant champion Kamaru Usman for the title. Whatever division “The Notoriuos” decides to fight in, his coach is positive that he will make weight in a healthy fashion.
“When we get to the stage of looking at weight classes and opponents there’s nobody more professional than Conor at making weight and it will all be done properly,” Kavanagh said.
