Recently appearing on “The Action Junkeez Podcast”, UFC president Dana White admitted that the fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz would have been a terrible mistake. After seeing how Chimaev dominated Kevin Holland at UFC 279, White was happy that the fight never happened.

“After you watch the fight, you realize Khamzat vs. Nate Diaz would have been fucking – that wouldn’t have been good,” White said. “Khamzat, I know the fans got pissed at him for not making weight and everything else, but Jesus fucking Christ. What he went out and did to Kevin Holland – did you see Kevin Holland post the picture the other day that his eyes were all red from the fucking choke? I mean, holy shit.”

Khamzat hints a move up to middleweight

At UFC 279, Khamzat Chimaev fought Kevin Holland in a catchweight fight at 180 pounds. However, in a new Twitter post, “Borz” hinted that he will move up to middleweight for his next fight. So far, Chimaev fought twice as a middleweight in the promotion, both times earning a Performance of the Night bonus.

In his first-ever UFC fight he defeated middleweight John Phillips via a second-round submission. In his second middleweight bout, he knocked out Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds.
