UFC recently booked a fight between No. 3 ranked welterweight Khamzat Chimaev and veteran Nate Diaz to headline the UFC 279 card. Since then, many experts in the MMA community raised their voices claiming that the fight is an obvious mismatch.
Now the organization’s president Dana White shares his thoughts on the bout.
“It’s a good fight,” White said at a recent press conference. “It’s a fight that people will want to see. It’s a fight that people will be interested in, so we’re gonna do it.”

MMA expert Dan Hardy doesn’t agree with Dana White
One who doesn’t agree with Dana White is MMA expert Dan Hardy. On a recent episode of The MMA Hour, Hardy explained his feelings about the UFC 279 main event.
“It doesn’t feel like a fair fight. It feels like a very, very cruel thing to do to someone that is a legitimate legend,” Hardy said.
The MMA expert seemed deeply concerned when he talked about the fight and calls it a assassination attempt.
“I hope, desperately hope, that Nate at least comes through it alright, but after watching what Khamzat did to Rhys McKee and to John Phillips, ” Hardy said. ”I think it’s going to be uncomfortable to watch, and I think it’s going to leave the UFC in a very, very bad light.”
