UFC returns this Saturday with the stacked UFC 273, featuring champions like Alexander Volkanovski, Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. However, the most hyped fight of the event is the welterweight bout between Gilbert Burns and the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev. If ”Borz” beats Burns it will be hard for anyone to doubt the potential of the rising Swedish star.

One who gets all excited talking about Chimaev’s abilities is the former double champion and UFC expert Daniel Cormier. He believes that there’s no limit to how far ”Borz” can go in the welterweight division, and sees him as a serious threat to the dominant champion Kamaru Usman.

”He is very scary. To say anyone will knock off Kamaru Usman is a lot, but if there’s a guy that seems to be a challenge, it seems to be this guy,” Cormier recently said to MMA Fighting.

”What he did was ridiculous”

Even though the BJJ black belt Gilbert Burns is ranked No. 2 and is the more experienced of the two welterweights, Khamzat Chimaev is a massive betting favorite on UFC 273.

“I would love to see the odds when Usman and Burns opened up, because I can’t imagine it was as high as this is. I think that speaks to the dominance that Chimaev has put on paper to this point. It’s big shoes. It’s a lot of hype to live up. The dude seems to have the goods. As the fights get tougher, we’ll see, but what he did to Li Jingliang was ridiculous,” Cormier said.
