Derrick ”The Black Beast” Lewis will be back in his home state to fight this Saturday. However, on the UFC 277 media day the No. 5 ranked heavyweight claimed that he has no clue who his opponent Sergei Pavlovich is.

“I ain’t know who he was. I still don’t know who he is,” Lewis said. “It really don’t matter. I’ve fought everyone. I fought guys that should be champions, and I fought guys that should be a reporter for MMA Junkie. I fought everyone. So it don’t matter. So I’m not the best fighter. I don’t go out there thinking I’m the best fighter, either. So it don’t matter.”

Pavlovich is ranked No. 11 in the heavyweight division and rides a three-fight win streak. He last defeated Shamil Abdurakhimov with a first-round TKO-win.

Derrick Lewis is the UFC KO-king

Derrick Lewis holds the record of most knockouts in the UFC history. No less than 13 opponents has been knocked out by the powerful Texas fighter. However, ”The Black Beast” claimed it is the dough rather than the records that makes him want to compete.

“It’s still the money,” Lewis said. “Inflation. You didn’t see the gas prices?”

All in all, Lewis has a record of 26-9, with 17-7 in the UFC. His most notable wins came against top ranked fighters such as Curtis Blaydes, Alexander Volkov and heavy weight champion Francis Ngannou.
