It’s inevitable that big fight cards clash from time to time.
However, the fact that the highly anticipated July 29 UFC rematch between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje shares a primetime slot with one of the most hyped boxing matches in recent years – the undisputed welterweight title fight between Errol Spence and Terence Crawford – is just too much for some.
One who’s bummed to miss the boxing action is Poirier himself, who is a big fan of the sweet science.
“I don’t know if it’s gonna affect pay-per-views, I think fans might buy both,” Poirier said during a recent interview with MMA Junkie. “I’m kinda upset I’m not gonna watch that live, I’m a big boxing fan. To me, this is the Super Bowl.”
The rematch between the lightweight fan favorites will headline UFC 291 and the promotion’s BMF title will be on the line.
