Jorge Masvidal retires after co-main event loss: ”I’m good for life now”

Welterweight stars Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal just collided in the highly anticipated co-main event of UFC 287.

There was a crazy tension in the arena from the start, but the first round started measured from both fighters. Masvidal landed good lowkicks while Burns found the mark with his right hand. By the end of the round we saw more action by both fighters.

In the second round, Burns controlled his opponent on the ground.

Round three started with good striking from both fighters. Burns seemed to land the harder shots and was able to take the fight to the ground in the last minute.

After the final bell, the Brazilian stood as the winner via unanimous decision with 30-27. 30-27 and 29-28 on the scorecards.

Jorge Masvidal retires in Miami

In front of his home crowd he retired from the sport of MMA.

”20 years, fifty-some fights. I don’t feel the same when I get in here no more,” Masvidal said. ”I’m good for life now.”
