Despite a three-year absence from fighting, former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo is more than confident as he challenges reigning champion Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight strap.
“It’s easy money. I watched these guys after coaching some of the best in the world – Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson, Zhang Weili, Deiveson Figueiredo, Jiri Prochazka – and I started to understand my talent a little bit better,” Cejudo said.
Even though he’s been out of competition for more than a thousand days, “Triple C” claimed he feels as good as ever.
“I know there is a window, I know there is a gap where I really do have to say goodbye. I’m 36 years old, I’m 36 years young, and I feel good. I feel really good.”
Even though Henry Cejudo is one of the few UFC two-division champions, and an Olympic gold medalist, he never felt he got the credit he deserved. Not then and not now as he makes his UFC comeback.
“I love the fact that people are going to doubt me. And I think that’s another reason why I’m back too. I love being the underdog, like I’ve been my whole life,” Cejudo said.
Aljamain Sterling won the bantamweight championship back via DQ back in 2021, and defended it twice in a rematch against Petr Yan and against former champion T.J. Dillashaw.
However, that doesn’t impress “Triple C”.
“I personally think Aljamain just sucks,” Henry Cejudo said.
