The curse is strong!
Hip hop superstar Drake lost a staggering two million dollars betting on Israel Adesanya in his title fight against Alex Pereira at UFC 281.
Adesanya was the odds-on betting favorite going into the fight, and looked like he was going to win, until the Brazilian striker turned things around in the last round, winning by TKO.
The “Drake betting curse” came about after the rapper lost an insane amount of money betting on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272, Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, and Jose Aldo at UFC 278.
However, to be fair the Canadian banked a reported $3.7 million betting on Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann at UFC London in July.
Israel Adesanya predicts two more fights with his rival
Drake might get a chance to win back the money he betted on Israel Adesanya, since the rematch is bound to happen sooner or later.
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour Ariel Helwani, the former champion visualized how he will run it back with his rival.
“I’ll probably fight him two more times,” Adesanya said. “I told him after the fight when I took a bow to the crowd. I told him ‘you don’t like me, I don’t like you, but respect’. Energies don’t mix. I know he doesn’t like me, it’s like water and oil.”
