Make it or break it for Israel Adesanya: ”This is my Eminem moment”

Israel Adesanya is up for his most important fight of his career as he faces his bitter rival Alex Pereira on Saturday’s UFC 287 in Miami.

”Now this is the point where I’m down two fights in kickboxing, one fight in MMA. I’m down three. This is in very movie, that one shot. This is my Eminem moment, my ‘8-Mile’ moment: ‘You get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity comes one in a life time.’ This is it for me,” Adesanya said at Wednesday’s UFC 287 media day.

8 Mile was a movie featuring Eminem’s struggle as a rapper in the making in the tough streets of Detroit.

Israel Adesanya: ”Everyone is counting me out”

Before the loss to his rival in November, ”The Last Stylebender” was undefeated king of the middleweight division, beating every opponent coming his way. Izzy approaches the rematch with  Pereira as a part of a bigger picture when it comes to his legacy as a MMA fighter.

“Not many people get the opportunity to show how great they are, to rise to the occasion when all the odds are stoked against them and people are counting them out,” Adesanya said.

”I feel like the underdog. I feel like everyone is counting me out. I feel like because of the result of the last fight, goldfish memory. They forgot what I’ve done in this game. It’s time to remind people how great I am.”
