After this past Saturday’s UFC 299, there have been major changes in the welterweight rankings.

Jack Della Maddalena, who is still undefeated in the promotion, was on his way to a decision loss to Gilbert Burns who won the first two rounds on two of the three judges’ scorecards. In the third round, however, Maddalena was able to turn things around as he pounded Burns out for a knockout win.

The win gave him a Performance of the Night bonus of 50K, the fifth post-fight bonus in seven UFC fights.

Jack Della Maddalena is now in the top 5

After losing his two first pro fights, Australian 27-year-old has fifteen straight victories, With the last win, he’s right where he wants to be.

“I think I’m gonna crack into the top five and start the title contention journey,” Maddalena told UFC before the fight. “I think (the UFC matchmakers) appreciate my style and understand what I’m going to bring to the fight.”
