Back in 2021, Swedish UFC fighter Jack Hermansson faced his friend and training buddy Khamzat Chimaev in a freestyle wrestling match at Bulldog Fight Night 9 in Gothenburg.
Both fighters are known to be skilled wrestlers and the interesting fight gained a lot of attention both in Sweden and internationally. After two three-minute rounds, Chimaev eventually stood as the winner on points.
In a recent interview with with MiddleEasy, Hermansson opened up to face his friend in the octagon too, as both are top 10 ranked in the middleweight division.
”That would be a really cool fight to do,” Hermansson said. ”We are in the same division and want the same thing and (have) the same goal so if that fight comes off it will definitely be a cool fight to do.”
On Saturday, Jack “The Joker” Hermansson will face rising prospect Joe Pyfer in a five-round headliner at the Apex.
“My plan is to give him something he doesn’t expect,” Hermansson recently told Käftsmällspodden abut the matchup.
“He’s been studying my fights and preparing for what he has seen, so I feel like giving him a different look. He will get some things he won’t expect.”
