Swedish Jack “The Joker” Hermansson just took a tough loss against short notice replacement Roman Dolidze at UFC Orlando.
The Swede started strong, landing chopping leg kicks and securing a takedown in the first round.
However, after Hermansson took the fight to the ground in the second round, Dolidze capitalized on the position, threatening with an armbar and a triangle, eventually turning things around.
With less than a minute left, the Georgian landed heavy ground-and-pound that eventually forced the referee to stop the fight.
In the post-fight interview, the dangerous Georgian, who has four wins in a row, called out Khamzat Chimaev.
“With all respect, Khamzat,” Dolidze said. “For sure someone top ranked.”
“First of all, I’m a grappler. World champion grappling but I can knock people out. I’m a self-made grappler. It’s just natural.”
Jack Hermansson was scheduled to fight Derek Brunson
Jack Hermansson was scheduled to fight Derek Brunson in Orlando, however, the veteran was forced to pull out of the fight due to an unfortunate injury.
With the loss, The Swede moved to 23-8 as a professional MMA fighter. In his last bout he defeated Chris Curtis, who also was a short notice replacement, at UFC London on July 23.
