Khamzat Chimaev eyes fight against kickboxing phenomenon

At UFC 267, middleweight Alex Pereira’s vicious left hook secured him a KO-win over No. 4 ranked Sean Strickland. The knock out gave Pereira a Performance of the Night-bonus, and sent big waves through the MMA world.

One who seemed impressed by the performance is No. 3 ranked welterweight Khamzat Chimaev. Now, ”Borz” wants to test himself against the dangerous middleweight kickboxer.

”I want to fight with this guy. Dana White let’s make it,” Chimaev recently wrote on Twitter.

Khamzat Chimaev fought two times in the UFC middleweight division

Chimaev has already fought two times in the UFC middleweight division. In his very first UFC fight, back in July 2020, he submitted MMA veteran John Phillips in the second round. Two months later, on September 19, he knocked out Gerald Meerschaert with a brutal right hand, just 16 seconds into the bout.

Alex Pereira made his UFC debut on November 6, last year with a TKO-win over Andreas Michailidis, and in his second apperence he defeated Bruno Silva via unanimous decision. The Brazilian made his professional MMA debut in 2015, losing the fight via submission. Since then, he rides a six fight win streak, and holds a professional record of 6-1.

Before the MMA career, he made his name as the Glory Kickboxing light heavyweight champion and Glory Kickboxing middleweight champion.
