On Saturday, risin star Khamzat Chimaev will finally get to test himself against a top contender as he’ll take on No. 2 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 in Jacksonville, Florida.
While Burns is the far more experienced fighter, Chimaev is the betting favourite by a wide margin.
In an interview with Swedish fighting podcast Käftsmällspodden, Chimaev’s manager Majdi Shammas previewed the fight with as much confidence as anyone would expect from “Borz'” team.
“To be honest, I think Gilbert Burns is scared – as he very well should be. I think he’s going to come out swinging, just to try to do something that nobody else has done against Khamzat Chimaev. He’s going to trying to land strikes, try to land so something. So he’s just going to come out aggressive, and when the storm settles I think the very first punch that Khamzat lands will spell the beginning of the end. When Gilbert feels that power, it will scare him.
“Gilbert doesn’t want to end up like Khamzat’s previous opponents, so he’ll come out guns-blazing. Anyways, it won’t be enough. He’s going to feel Khamzat’s power, and he’s going to shit his pants”, Shammas says.
