Khamzat Chimaev has been considered one of the hottest stars in the UFC for quite some time, and after beating Gilbert Burns earlier this spring, the Swede earned a placement in the top 3 of the official UFC rankings.
The 27-year-old is thereby already ranked five places higher than two-time title challenger Jorge Masvidal – but that hasn’t made ”Gamebred” consider Chimaev a worthy contender. At least yet.
Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Masvidal had some harsh words for the Swedish superstar.
”I don’t think shit of him. He hasn’t fought anybody, you know. He’s gotta go fight some guys first. They (the UFC) talk big about everybody they think they can get money from. He can bring in those Arabic countries that got a lot of money. I haven’t seen one guy yet that he’s beaten and I’m like, okay, he beat up somebody good,” Masvidal said.
Those comments did not sit well with Chimaev, who snapped back by mocking Masvidal recent loss to undisputed UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman.
”I saw that Masvidal is still saying that I didn’t fight anyone. Who did he fight? How can you say that after getting KO’d stiff? Usman almost sent him to heaven,” Chimaev told MMA Hustle.
