At UFC 273 the rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev and No. 2 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns delivered a bloody and exciting performance that may very well become the fight of the year.
After the wild bout the undefeated Swede revealed that it was hard to fight Burns – for a reason you might not expect.
”Actually, it was a little bit hard to fight him because I see his kids, they come to me ’You will fight my daddy’, you know,” Chimaev said during the post-fight press conference. I say ”Shit, fuck, I don’t need that shit. I don’t want to fight with some daddy, I need some killer like me you know. Kill somebody and don’t care about that shit.”

Both Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns got win-money
The fight between the two welterweights was unofficially named the peoples main event and got far more attention than the two title fights that headlined UFC 273.
In the first round Khamzat Chimaev caught the Brazilian with a hard right jab that sent him to the canvas, before cutting him open with heavy ground and pound. In the second round Burns found success with a hard right that seemed to really rock the Swede. But all in all, it was Chimaevs night and there was really no question who the judges would give the win to.
UFC president was so pleased with the bout that he decided to pay Burns his win-money along with the guaranteed show-money, even though the Brazilian lost the fight.
”I’m going to give Gilbert Burns win-money too. So he’s going to get his show and win. That fight was ridiculous,” White said during the post-fight press conference.
