British Muay Thai veteran Liam Harrison will return on Saturday, after a near two-year layoff, to clash with Katsuki Kitano at ONE 167.
Unfortunately, the 38-year-old missed weight after passing his hydration test with no problem. When his weight of 146 was announced, Harrison could not believe his ears. According to Sportskeeda, the Brit claimed he weighed in at 143 on the same scale just hours before.
“Literally physically impossible to put 3lbs on with that amount of water … especially when the Official Weight Check Official said you’re 2lbs under go have a drink. The scales are either fucked or he made a mistake and me and my nutrionist are not being held accountable,” Harrison wrote on social media.
Liam Harrison found the whole situation outrageous and refused to despite still having time to make weight.
“I’m 38 years old, why should I put my body through weeks and weeks of dieting and then do 2 weight cuts in 1 day when it’s them who have fucked up not me,” Harrison explained on X.
Oddly enough, Harrison’s opponent, Katsuki Kitano also missed weight. He failed three attempts of passing the hydration test. Neither fighter can now win the 50.000 dollar performance bonus.
Harrison’s opponent Katsuki Kitano then fails his hydration test.
