Former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold thinks that there is only one way for Nate Diaz to pull off a win against Khamzat Chimaev in the main event at UFC 279 on September 10.
”Outlast him. I mean, that’s what Nate Diaz does best, right? He waits till the end, takes the punishment and tries to find an opening. You know, they are so relaxed, the boys. That plays to their advantage in the later stages of their fight. And that’s really the only way I see him winning this fight,” Rockhold said.
Luke Rockhold belives that Khamzat Chimaev is too solid
Luke Rockhold is under the impression that Khamzat Chimaev is way too well-rounded and physically strong for the Stockton veteran.
”Chimaev is too solid. Too solid of a wrestler, too good of a base, too good at boxing, too strong,” Rockhold said. ”It’s a bit of a far-fetched thing for Nathan, but you never know man. He must have taken it for a reason, he believes in himself. It’s the last fight on his contract, so it’s a dangerous fight to take. It’s an interesting game he plays but we’ll see.”
Rockhold will compete against No. 6 ranked middleweight Paulo ”The Eraser” Costa in the co-main event at UFC 278 next Saturday. This will be the former champion’s return to middleweight after testing his wings in light heavyweight against Jan Błachowicz in July 2019.
