There will be no Swedish UFC event on June 3.

During the year, there has been speculation that UFC would return to Sweden, and when the promotion booked a fight between Swedish middleweight Jack Hermansson and Brendan Allen to headline a UFC Fight Night, many thought that it would be the perfect main event for a Swedish card.

However, UFC president Dana White announced Thursday that the fight will headline a card at the Apex in Las Vegas.

Besides Jack Hermansson, the June 3 card also features Swedish-Iraqi flyweight Amir Albazi who’s set for his biggest fight to date as he will take on No. 3 ranked Kai Kara-France.

No. 7 ranked Albazi has taken the flyweight division by storm since joining the promotion in 2020 and is 4-0 in the UFC.

We will also see fighters like former women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate compete on the June 3 event in Las Vegas.

No UFC Sweden since 2019

So far the UFC has visited Sweden six times.

The first event, back in April 2014, was headlined by Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson who took on Thiago Silva. A fight that Gustafsson won via unanimous decision.

Last time the promotion visited Sweden was in 2019. Besides the headline bout between Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Smith, the card also featured fighters like Daniel Teymur and Jimi Manuwa.
