UFC 295 just took place at the classic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The card was headlined by a light heavyweight title bout where former champions Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira clashed for the vacant strap.
In a competitive first round, the Brazilian landed leg kicks on the former light heavyweight champion who later took the fight to the ground. In round two, Pereira landed a heavy right hand and left hook that flored Prochazka and followed up with elbows to the head until the referee stopped the action.
The Brazilian kickboxer is now a two-division UFC champion in his eleventh pro MMA fight.
“This means a lot to me,” the calm and collected Pereira said after the win.
In the massive co-main event, the heavyweight interim championship was on the line as Tom Aspinall clashed with Sergei Pavlovich.
After just one minute of action, Aspinall showed why he’s perhaps the best heavyweight in the world as he knocked out the dangerous Russian with two outstanding 1-2 combinations to become the new interim champ.
