Paulo Costa hints career change – ”Miserable” UFC contract soon to expire

UFC middleweight Paulo Costa’s UFC contract will expire in a few months. Now, the widely popular fighter hints that he’s leaving the promotion to continue his martial arts career as a professional boxer.

”My miserable contract with the UFC was up in a few short months. will expire in time. A new boxer is coming to town!,” Costa recently wrote on Twitter.

Paulo Costa defeated Luke Rockhold at UFC 278

So far, the Brazilian middleweight competed eight times in the octagon and holds a promotional record of 6-2, with his only losses coming to champion Israel Adesanya, in their title fight at UFC 253 in Abu Dhabi, and against Marvin ”The Italian Dream” Vettori in October 2021.

In his last fight, No. 6 ranked ”Borrachinha” clashed with former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in a gruelling three round fight at UFC 278. After three tough and bloody rounds, Costa stood as the winner with 30-27 on all three judge’s scorecards.

Paulo Costa has since then been rumored to fight Khamzat Chimaev after their heated altercation at the UFC Performance Institute ahead of the UFC 279 card in September.
