Report: Amir Albazi to face former UFC champ Brandon Moreno in Mexico

According to reports, Amir Albazi will face former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno in a main event matchup on February 24 in Mexico.

News of the flyweight fight was first mentioned by ESPN Deportes’ Carlos Contreras Legaspi in a YouTube livestream.

Sport journalist Marcel Dorff from Eurosport Nederland’s confirmed the matchup on social media.

Amir Albazi is undefeated in the UFC

No. 3 ranked Albazi is undefeated in the UFC with five straight victories. He comes from a split decision win against Kai Kara-France.

“That was the top three-ranked flyweight in the world, and I got the win against him,” Albazi said after the fight.

In his promotional debut he submitted Malcolm Gordon in the first round.

With two wins over Deiveson Figueiredo, Moreno cemented himself as one of the absolute best the  division has ever seen. However, he lost his title to Alexandre Pantoja after five rounds of action in July at UFC 290.
