Former two-time strawweight champion “Thug” Rose Namajunas just took on top contender Manon Fiorot in the flyweight co-main event at UFC Paris.
The fight started at a high pace with both fighters trading on her feet. Namajunas broke a finger on her right hand and changed to southpaw where she found good success.
In between the rounds, Namajunas’ told her corner that she broke her finger.
In the second round, Fiorot stepped on the gas and landed a good knee in the clinch. The flyweight’s clashed heads in the last minute of the round which opened up a deep cut on the side of Fiorot’s head. The third round continued at the same high pace.
Namajunas pushed forward but Fiorot fought well. After the final bell, the French fighter stood as the winner via unanimous decision.
“I have a lot of respect for Rose,” Fiorot said and made a claim for fighting for the flyweight title next.
Rose Namajunas comes from a loss against Carla Esparza at UFC 274 in May 2022 and now rides a two-fight losing skid. Her last win came against Zhang Weili in November 2021.
Fiorot lost her first professional MMA fight via split decision at Cage Warriors 94 back in 2018.
Since then she has racked up ten straight wins, five in the UFC.
