A bantamweight title bout between reigning champion Aljamain Sterling and challenger Sean O’Malley is now official for UFC 292 at TD Garden in Boston.

UFC president Dana White announced the fight Tuesday evening.

Sterling fought a few weeks back against the returning two-division champ Henry Cejudo. Sterling won the even fight via split decision.

Afterward, the champion faced off with O’Malley  inside the octagon to promote their upcoming fight.

So far Sterling successfully defended his 135 strap three times after winning it via DQ at UFC 259.

Sean O’Malley rides a five-fight win streak

O’Malley rides a five-fight winning streak and comes from a split decision win himself against former champion Petr Yan in October.

In a recent interview with The Schmo, ”Sugar” gave his thoughts about Aljamain Sterling.

”His awkwardness is effective but I think it will be the downfall of him because I am a sniper. You can’t walk forward like that with me and cross your feet with your chin in the air because I will find it, and I will find it often. I’m not saying I’m gonna go out there and one-shot him… I believe that I will hit him over and over again to where he will fall, ”Sean O’Malley said.

The 28-year-old has recent wins over Raulian Paiva and Kris Moutinho, and his sole defeat came against Marlon ”Chito” Vera back in 2020.

In the co-main event of UFC 292, strawweight champion Zhang Weili will take on No. 4 ranked challenger Amanda Lemos.
