Saturday’s UFC 280 card is by far the most stacked card of the year, with two title fights and a bunch of top fighters from several divisions competing.
In fact, the card is so good that the co-main bantamweight title bout between reigning champion Aljamain Sterling and T.J Dillashaw is somewhat overlooked.
During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the former two-time bantamweight champion gives his thoughts on why.
“It also comes down to the fact that this champion I’m fighting is very boring,” Dillashaw said. “He’s a very boring champion as in the fact of his fighting style. I feel like I’ve given people a reason to hate on me, but people hate him because he’s just a douchebag and he is a boring fighter. Maybe that’s a little why this fight is flying under the radar, he’s never been in those dragged-out wars.”
“I’m looking to clean this boring champion out and run a series of amazing knockouts here in the bantamweight division.”
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Dillashaw slams his opponent claiming that he’s good at all areas but not a dangerous fighter.
“Do you think he’s dangerous? Have you seen a highlight where Aljamain Sterling is dangerous? He choked out Sandhagen because Sandhagen gave him his neck,” Dillashaw said.
