Khamzat Chimaev is heavily favoured to defeat Gilbert Burns at this weekend’s UFC 273. At least according to the bookmakers.
That’s despite the fact that Burns is a decorated UFC veteran who have faced the best the division has to offer, while only losing to undisputed welterweight champ Kamaru Usman.
Some people might be surprised to learn that Swedish breakout star Chimaev is favoured 5-1 to win his first fight with an opponent inside the top ten on the official rankings.
Chimaev has only had ten fights yet in his professional career, but have won all of his matches by stoppage in dominant fashion. The Swede has scored seven of those stoppages in the very first round.

So far, Khamzat Chimaev has already set two UFC records – his first two victories in the promotion came in the span of 10 days, and his subsequent third straight victory in a 66-day span marked the fastest stretches in UFC history.
”Borz” has absorbed just one significant strike in his first four matches, wiping the floor with the likes of Li Jingliang and Gerald Meerschaert. Meanwhile, he has outlanded his opponents 254-2 in total strikes and 112-1 in significant strikes during these four outings.
These numbers doesn’t tell the whole story – but the betting line for Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, keeping these spectacular stats in mind.
