Two massive UFC middleweight headliners announced

UFC president Dana White announced Thursday that the promotion booked two pivotal middleweight headliners for the summer.

On June 17, top ranked Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier will square it off in UFC Fight Night headliner on June 17.

Both fighters come from big wins as they go into the fight.

No. 3 ranked Cannonier defeated Sean Strickland via split decision in December, while No. 4 ranked Vettori stopped rising contender Roman Dolidze in March.

The UFC Fight Night event on June 17 now includes following fights:

Jared Cannonier vs. Marvin Vettori
Alessandro Costa vs. Jimmy Flick
Tereza Bleda vs. Gabriella Fernandes
Kleydson Rodrigues vs. Tatsuro Taira
Modestas Bukauskas vs. Zac Pauga
Nicolas Dalby vs. Muslim Salikhov

Sean Strickland headlines event on July 1

White also officially announced another important middleweight headliner for a UFC event this summer as No. 7 ranked Sean Strickland will take on Abus Magomedov at a UFC Fight Night event on July 1.

The main event will be Magomedov’s second fight in the promotion. He made a spectacular debut in September with a 19-second first-round finish of Dustin Stoltzfus.

Strickland comes from a unanimous decision win against Nassourdine Imavov in January. The fight will be his fifth UFC main event.

The fight will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and at the moment there are no other confirmed bouts for the event.
