UFC 290 just took place at the T-Mobile in Las Vegas and lived up to all expectations and then some.
In the main event we saw a hell of a featherweight title unification bout between reigning champion Alexander Volkanovski and interim champion Yair Rodriguez.
Volkanovski was the more active fighter in the first two rounds as he took the fight to the ground multiple times.
In the third round, Rodriguez started strong with his patented creative kicks, however, Volkanovski eventually caught the Mexican with a right hook and finished the fight with vicious ground-and-pound.
“I’m being honest with you, through camp, there was a bit of fear of his striking knowing how dangerous he was,” Volkanovski said in the post-fight interview.
“I’m really coming for all them records,” Volkanovski said. “I want that lightweight belt.”
The co-main event featured a flyweight title fight between champion Brandon Moreno and his rival Alexandre Pantoja.
After five tough rounds of action, that very well could have been the best title fight of the year, the flyweight division has a new champion in Pantoja.
In the prelims, former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler ended his career in the best way possible as he got an early first-round knockout against Nico Price.
