UFC Champion suffered serious hand injury and undergoes surgery!

Reigning flyweight champion Alexa Grasso suffered a serious hand injury in her exciting rematch with Valentina Shevchenko on September 16.
After five hard-fought and intense rounds, Grasso retained her title as the fight was ruled a split draw.
During the fight, the champion hurted her hand and now she’s having surgery on a hand fracture she suffered in the middle of the title bout.
”In the fight I fractured my hand; we are used to not letting the pain stop us in anything and although it hurt I didn’t think it was serious until I wanted to go back to training and I realized my hand was still very bad,” Grasso posted from the hospital bed on Tuesday.

Alexa Grasso is undefeated as a flyweight
Since moving up to flyweight in August 2020, the Mexican champion is 5-0-1, with wins against Kim Ji-yeon, Maycee Barber, Joanne Wood, Viviane Araújo and Valentina Shevchenko.
At the moment it’s not clear who Alexa Grasso will face next, but UFC president Dana White has hinted that a third fight with Shevchenko could be on the horizon.
”I fully trust my health in your hands and I know I will be MEGA ready for that trilogy,” Grasso said.
