UFC commentator and former two-division champion Daniel Cormier was not happy with the judges’ decision in the title fight between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko this past Saturday.
When judge Mike Bell gave Grasso 10-8 in the last round, it made the total score turn out to a split draw.
“It felt to me like Mike Bell, I don’t know what he could have watched to score that round a 10-8 for Alexa Grasso. She won that round, no doubt about it, she won that round, but a 10-8 is just, it is honestly one of the worst scorecards that I’ve seen in a really long time,” Cormier said.
Since moving up from strawweight to flyweight, champion Alexa Grasso is undefeated with five wins and one split decision.
Cormier feels like we need to see a third and final meeting between the champion and Shevchenko.
“Gotta run it back. We gotta have these two women fight again. And I feel like everytime we match them up, we’re in for a tremendous fight between these two.”
Alexa Grasso, however, has no problem with the judges’ scoring at Noche UFC.
“I’m happy with my performance,” Grasso said. “For me, it was 3-2. The fourth and fifth were for me, but I’m not the judge, so yeah. I’m not the judge.”
