The flyweight bout between Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo was cancelled due to visa issues for Grasso. The fight was scheduled to be the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 41, that takes place on August 13 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
The top ranked flyweights were scheduled to clash at UFC 270 on January 22, but Araujo was forced to pull out due to injury. No. 5 ranked Grasso has a record of 14-3, with 6-3 in the UFC, while No.6 ranked Araujo has a record of 11-3, with 5-2 in the UFC.
The UFC on ESPN 41 card is headlined by a bantamweight bout between No. 5 ranked Marlon Vera and former two-time UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, who holds the No. 8 spot on the UFC bantamweight rankings. Vera comes from a dominant win over Rob Font in April, while Cruz defeated Pedro Munhoz in December last year.
