In the main event of UFC Vegas 62, top ranked flyweights Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo gave the crowd a five round kickboxing match. Both fighters traded in the exchanges, but Grasso was landing more shots.
After five high paced rounds, all three judges gave Grasso the victory with 50-45, 49-46 and 49-46 on the scorecards. With the win, the Mexican flyweight moves to 4-0 and puts herself in a good position for a potential title fight.
“I knew I one this fight, I did a lot of damage. My punches were a lot harder,” Grasso said on the post-fight presser.
In the bantamweight co-main event, Jonathan Martinez defeated UFC veteran Cub Swanson who dropped down from featherweight.
Martinez nasty left kicks during the fight. In the second round he targeted the legs of Swanson, who kept standing up, until one of the powerful kicks put him down. The biggest win of Martinez’s career.
Martinez banked 50 000 dollars for his performance against Cub. The other Performance of the Night bonus went to undefeated flyweight Tatsuro Taira. The Fight of the Night bonus was Dusko Todorovic and Jordan Wright, who each banked 50 000 dollars for their main card brawl.
