Alexa Grasso submits Valentina Shevchenko to become flyweight champion!

Mexican striker Alexa Grasso just shook up the world as she defeated Valentina Shevchenko to become the new UFC flyweight champion!

In the fourth round of the title bout, the boxing specialist showed proof of her slick submission skills. After a failed spinning back kick from the champion, Grasso put an end to Shevchenko’s long title reign with an impressive rear-naked-choke.

The new champion said she trained for that exact submission during her camp.

“I’ve trained for that thing. I train every single day that thing, because I knew she did those spinning things.” Grasso said in the post fight interview.

Alexa Grasso: “I feel like I’m dreaming”

With the victory, the 29-year-old became historic as the first Mexico-born woman ever to win a UFC title.

“I feel like I’m dreaming. I’ve been dreaming about this moment for so long,” Grasso said.

The former champ Valentina Shevchenko opened up on the tough loss, as she was interview in the octagon.

“This is what happens in mixed martial arts,” Shevchenko said and claimed she wanted an immediate rematch.
