What’s next for featherweight powerhouse Josh Emmett?

Riding a five fight win streak, top ranked featherweight Josh Emmett is getting closer and closer to a title shot. Last Saturday, he defeated No. 4 ranked Calvin Kattar, which further cemented his status as a possible title contender.

Giga Chikadze might very well be next opponent for the American featherweight. Coming from a loss to Calvin Kattar, the Georgian striker is looking to get back in the mix again, and with a win over Emmett he would definitly be there.

Arnold Allen

With nine straigth wins in the UFC, No 6. ranked Arnold Allen is a another possible matchup for the American. In fact, they were expected to face each other on January 25, 2020, but Emmett was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury.

In March, Allen defeated Dan Hooker via a first round TKO, and has no new fight booked at the moment.

No. 5 ranked UFC veteran Jung Chan-sung would also be a interesting fight for Emmett. With his relentless pressure, incredible toughness and solid boxing, Korean Zombie could be a problem for the hard hitting American.

Zombie last fought for the title against champion Alexander Volkanovski. A fight he lost by TKO in the fourth round. At the moment, he has no new fight booked.

Brian Ortega

With his strong grappling, incredible toughness and great chin No. 2 ranked Brian Ortega could be a serious threat to Emmet, especially on the ground. However, Ortega will face No. 3 ranked Yair Rodriguez in a Fight Night event on July 16, and the winner of the bout could go for a title shot next.

The Mexican featherweight Yair Rodriguez could prove to be a tough test for Emmett. ”El Pantera” is a unorthodox and dangerous striker, with a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and generally recognized as one of the most exciting fighters in the stacked division.
