On February 17, former UFC title challenger Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez is set to make his Bare Knuckle FC debut.

At BKFC KnuckleMania 3, the 41-year-old will face Austin Trout, a former WBA light middleweight champion who fought Canelo Alvarez among others, in the co-main event.

The New Mexico Athletic Commission approved the bout between the UFC legend and former boxing world champion during a special hearing on Tuesday, and the promotion then announced the news of Sanchez’s debut fight on social media.

“Official: Two New Mexico legends in your Knucklemania co-main,” Bare Knuckle FC wrote on Instagram.

Diego Sanchez departed from UFC in 2021

Veteran “The Nightmare” left the UFC in 2021 and fought once in MMA since, at Eagle FC 46, where he lost a competitive fight against Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee. During his UFC prime, he defeated fighters like Nick Diaz, Clay Guida and Jim Miller.

However, he’s perhaps best known for winning the Middleweight tournament of The Ultimate Fighter 1 back in 2005.

BKFC KnuckleMania 3 will take place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 17. The event headlined by a light heavyweight championship bout between Lorenzo Hunt and Mike Richman.
