Rising Swede Elin Öberg is set to return to action at UAE Warriors 50 in Abu Dhabi, where she’ll be squaring off against 18 year-old prospect Anelya Toktogonova from Kyrgyzstan on May 18.

Öberg announced the matchup on social media, sharing the official poster. Oddly enough, both fighters have agreed to meet in a 124 lbs catchweight bout – just one pound under the usual flyweight limit of 125 lbs.

Elin Öberg wants to make it three in a row at UAE Warriors 50

Öberg holds a professional MMA record of 5-2 and she’s currently riding a two-fight winning streak in UAE Warriors. Her most recent fight was in May of last year when she stopped Chinese fighter Miao Ding with strikes in the first round. Ding was Öberg’s most experienced opponent to date, coming in to that bout with a record of 16-6.

Before that TKO win, Öberg defeated Brazil’s Larissa Carvalho by unanimous decision to bounce back from a loss against Canada’s Corinne Laframboise.

Known as a dangerous striker, especially highlighted by her six-second knockout in her pro debut against former IMMAF World- and European champion Anna Astvik, Öberg is certainly a rising star to be on the lookout for as she continues to climb the ranks in one of the most prominent regional MMA promotions out there in UAE Warriors.

Anelya Toktogonova fought for ONE Championship at age 17

Öberg will now be taking on a young gun with a similar pro record as Toktogonova has five wins, one loss and one draw on her MMA resume. She turned pro as a teenager and most notably holds a win inside the ONE Championship ring, submitting Russian fighter Aleksandra Savicheva with a neck crank in the first round at ONE Friday Fights 11 when she was just 17 years old.

Toktogonova is undefeated in her last four fights and she’s riding a two-fight winning streak. After fighting to a unanimous draw against Russia’s Marina Shutova, she moved on to defeat another Russian in Vladlena Petrova by unanimous decision before stopping Uzbekistan’s Makhsuda Khamdamova by TKO in her most recent bout earlier this year.

UAE Warriors 50 will be broadcasted live on UFC Fight Pass. Besides the return of Elin Öberg, Swedish fans will be tuning in for the card’s main event as Sweden’s 9-2 featherweight MMA standout and former Muay Thai champion Samuel “Sammon Decker” Bark will be challenging former UFC fighter and reigning UAE Warriors featherweight champion Ali Alqaisi in a world championship headliner.

Frontkick.online first broke the news of the Alqaisi vs. Bark title fight, read more about that one right here.
