When ONE Championship asked their fans who superstar Jackie Buntan should face next, it seemed like Swedish Muay Thai sensation Smilla Sundell was the first choice of many.
“She deserves her rematch with Smilla; “The Hurricane” is a different kind of beast and game plan needs to be on point for rematch,” one fan commented.
Buntan was cheduled to face Sundell in a world title fight on September 29 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. However, the Filipino-American Muay Thai kickboxer was forced to pull out of the strawweight Muay Thai title bout due to family matters.
Smilla Sundell open to fight Jackie Buntan
Good news for both Buntan and the fans, in a recent exclusive interview with Frontkick, the Swedish champion seemed open to rebook the fight.
“I hope to get a title shot in kickboxing soon. I’m pretty sure me and Jackie Buntan will fight for the title next year, but I would face anyone for that belt,” Sundell said.
The Swede has a hard time finding opponents who dares to fight her.
“It’s frustrating but it’s also a bit flattering that fighters don’t dare to face me. Some people think I don’t want to fight so often, but the reason behind my inactivity is that fighters pull out after the contracts are signed.”
