Boxing star Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) and knockout artist Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (26-1-1, 21 KOs) will clash in a 12-round super lightweight fight at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Ryan is in big need of a victory to save his record, and eventually his entire career, after suffering a knockout loss to Gervonta “Tank” Davis last April.
The fast-handed and powerful 25-year-old is tired of being disrespected and has full focus on getting back in the win column to get a title shot.
I’m fed up, and I’ve been at 50 percent for so long. It’s going to be different. I promise that to myself,” Garcia said. “I don’t care about anything but becoming a world champion. My eyes used to care about social media and what that did for my career. Now, I don’t care. I’m ready to win.”
Duarte: “I want to take advantage of this”
Big underdog Duarte is far from a household name, but with a win against a star like Garcia, the Mexican boxer would definitely put himself on the map for fans all around the world.
“This is the best version I’ve felt. I’m a very strong lightweight. I’m stronger than ever. I feel great at 140,” said Duarte said about the fight. “I’m very hungry. I’ve been in boxing for fifteen years, and I want to take advantage of this. I’m going to do my best.”
