A man has been arrested following a shooting at the house of former UFC star Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal. One male victim was found with gunshot wounds on the address.
“According to the victim, he was involved in an argument that escalated when the subject produced a firearm and shot him. The adult male victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition,” Detective Chris Thomas said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting.
According to the Miami Police, Masvidal was not present during the incident.
“All occupants of the residence exited the home where units took the subject into custody without incident. The relationship between all parties on scene has not been confirmed, however, all parties know each other. The listed owner of the residence is Jorge Masvidal Jr.. He was not present during the incident and did not have any involvement.”
After a 20 year MMA career “Gamebred” retired in April with a record of 35-17 that extends back to 2003.
“I love everybody here. This is where I started my career, it’s been a long 20 years, 50 some fights. Sometimes your favorite basketball player don’t have that 3-pointer no more. Your favorite quarterback loses that rifle. I don’t feel the same when I get in here no more. It’s been 20 long years,” Masvidal said after losing his fight to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.
During the last years of his career, Jorge Masvidal was one of the biggest stars of the UFC.
“I love this fucking sport. I’m a multi-millionaire. I didn’t start with nothing. I can say I’m good for life now.”
