The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing fight on Netflix has been postponed.
The news broke Friday as it became clear that Tyson needed more time to recover after suffering an ulcer flareup following a cross-country flight earlier this week.
After hearing the news, Jake Paul’s brother Logan Paul said that he’d be willing to step in. The Youtuber, WWE superstar and fellow boxer took to X to throw his name in the hat, sharing an old faceoff picture of the two brother while simply typing “So Mike Tyson’s out? I’ll step in and we can settle this once and for all” and tagging Jake Paul.
Jake and Logan Paul has had a bit of a complicated relationship as of late, opting to air their disagreements and dirty laundry on social media and podcasts.
It’s unclear if Logan is actually sincere with the callout. Either way, him stepping in to face Jake Paul instead of Mike Tyson is highly unlikely at this point.
Mike Tyson releases statement, promises to knock Jake Paul out in their boxing fight live on Netflix
Following the news, Mike Tyson released a statement addressing the situation through his publicist.
“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said in the statement.
“My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
The Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing bout was supposed to go down in the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20 with a live broadcast live worldwide on streaming giant Netflix.
According to Most Valuable Promotions, a new fight date will be announced on Friday June 7 as Tyson is expected to return to full training “in the coming weeks”.
